MEA Sponsored Benchmarking
The MEA encourages its members to benchmark with each other on best practices that each member company practices. This is done on-line using the MEA website, in person at meetings sponsored by the MEA, and plant tours of member companies.
The manufacturing Leadership Award Process identifies companies with best practices and encourages them to share with other MEA members. An example of this is the Productivity Institute co-sponsored by Asheville-Buncombe Tech and member companies; Continental-Teves and Eaton Corporation. The best practices are taught in classrooms at A-B Tech and on the shop floor at Eaton and Continental-Tees.
The MEA is currently encouraging other members to share their best practices by posting them on the MEA website along with contact names and telephone numbers to reach the best practice champions at the MEA member companies. The MEA plans to keep expanding the Best Practice Sharing each year.

Partnering With Education
To maintain a competitive advantage in today’s world market a company’s workforce must be up to date with the latest technology available.
Therefore, continued education is more vital now than ever before. MEA and the local education system understand the importance of partnering together to keep local workers trained and thus keep up in today’s highly competitive market. Keeping our local workforce abreast of the latest advances in technology and introducing students to the exciting changes and career opportunities in manufacturing and related industry in our area is a “win-win” relationship. The result is a stronger workforce and thus a stronger economy, making Western north Carolina a better place for all.
